Helldivers 2 experienced a somewhat chaotic descent from high orbit, deploying onto PS5 and PC simultaneously and paying for it, with players experiencing matchmaking issues and unable to link up with their comrades. Thankfully, developer Arrowhead is doing its part to keep the intergalactic war effort going. Confirmation of a hotfix has been received and is expected imminently on PS5, having already been deployed on PC.
While the game's initial push faltered somewhat under the strain, the great news is that the Swedish developer's smash hit is delightful at its core. Once these teething issues are sorted out, this humble scribe thinks Sony might finally have a solid, compelling shooter foundation to build upon. We'll be fascinated to see how the community takes to the Warbonds progression system, which seems a refreshing change of pace from the usual service fare.

Me and my nephew have been playing it tonight and are loving it.
It has a good mix of shooter and strategy, the war bonds don't seem to be too grindy especially if you play either medium or up. Super credits aren't hard to come by both in the bonds and in game. I just wish it had a more Apex style pin system to let teammates know about points of interest.
I've been playing it with friends throughout the day, and I can confidently say this is the best multiplayer game PlayStation has published in over a generation. I'm very happy for Arrowhead's success.

What? Arrowhead is a Swedish studio? Maybe I shouldn’t been so harsh to my fellow countrymen… I will repurchase it after a couple of patches.

Why not? I had it pre ordered and jumped straight in as soon as it launched. Yeah there's a few teething issues to get on top of but it's obvious that the dev team are on it so the way I see it, by the time all the bugs are ironed out and everyone who's waiting then jumps in, I'll have already had the chance to get familiar with the game and level up. Plus I'll then appreciate the game even more as it'll only get better. Played for a few hours last night and even with the issues it was great.
@BoomShakAllaker yeah there's pretty much no issues I found, played for few hours from 6pm, had slow matchmaking, turned crossplay off and it was fine. Good to see it patched already
@BoomShakAllaker The Steam reviews made it seem much worse and I thought it might just be another buggy (no pun intended) game release. Glad to hear the game is running well and that people are having fun. I am keen to get it! Word up son 👍🏻
The dance dance revolution of the items threw me off at first but I grew to like it once I got the hang of it. I still haven't really figured out the random matchmaking part of it.
@RBMango Agreed, I had one crash but that was it. Finally, PS has a shooter that isn't just CoD and looks to have a great foundation to build on.
Played a few missions with a friend, sadly it is super generic and boring.
Just did a few missions with my brother. Lot of fun. And this was even on lower difficulties. I reckon on hard difficulties it will be mayhem, just like Hell Divers 1
@RBMango gives me hope for a ps5 level Warhawk reboot. Maybe bungie and Bluepoint could work together on that. Yeah I dream. Socom is overdue for reboot. Maybe Helldivers 2 is the start of ps2 and 3 multiplayer games coming back. Who knows. But this is a great start.

There's a lot of issues with this game now, yesterday was great everything was finally working but for some reason everything is messed up today.
Struggling to even log into the game, keeps saying "Failed to connect to server" so I have to keep pressing X to try again and after about a minute of this I finally log in, then I can't access my warbond or even upgrade my stratagems. To top it off I've played 4-5 matches today and my exp isn't going up so I'm stuck at level 7 and to make things worse I'm not even getting the medals either. I've also encountered a few bugs where the speech sound goes whilst I'm on the ship,
Surely I can't be the only one having this issue on PS5, and it seems widespread on PC. Maybe they should of ran an Early Access.
